You have made your appointment, confirmed your time, picked out your outfits and accessories and now the big day is only a day away. What should you do the day and night before your big photo shoot?
Here are some helpful suggestions from Martha Peoples Photography, THE PLACE for senior portraits:
- File nails to an even length and make sure your polish is removed or touched up.
- Use a deep moisturizer on hands and feet and leave on overnight.
- Make sure your eyebrows are plucked.
- Shave under arms and legs.
- Stay out of the sun and out of the tanning bed.
- If you use self-tanner, put it on after you shave and put it on in the morning to be sure you didn't miss a spot.
- Remove watches, rings or any other jewelry that might leave an impression on your skin.
- Wash your hair the day before the shoot. Second day hair is more manageable.
- Try on all your outfits with accessories to be sure everything fits, is clean and that you have everything. It's better to bring too much that forget something!
- Pack your make-up, hair brush or comb, hair spray, hair ties and bobby pins.
- Practice posing. You will feel more relaxed if you have some of your own poses in mind for your session.
- Be sure you know how to get to the studio.
- Get plenty of sleep!
- If your shoot is early in the morning, be sure to get up early and exercise to get your blood running. You don't want to have a "sleepy" look.
- Style your hair before you leave home. Touch ups can be done at the studio.
- Apply more make-up than you would wear on a daily basis.
- Use SPF free moisturizer and foundation to prevent reflection.
- Use a translucent powder to set make-up.
- Wear gloss and or color on your lips.
- Wear a button up shirt so that you don't mess up your hair and makeup.
- Don't eat a lot before the shoot, especially spicy or salty food. It will make you feel and look bloated.
- Drink lots of water! It will hydrate you for your outdoor session.
- Don't have too much caffeine.
- Arrive on time or even a little early so you don't feel rushed.
- Relax and have fun!!
