Pinterest has become one of the most exciting new elements of social media! Before Pinterest, I kept notes and pictures of ideas in boxes or folders. It was hard to share ideas with clients and hard to organize. Now with different boards, I can keep things organized and share my ideas with potential and current customers.
When I have someone call me to set up a portrait, I have a phone or in person consultation with them to see what type of session they are interested in. It is not only important for me to know what kind of background or pose they want, but also what they want to do with the end product. Through "pinning" we can share background and posing ideas so that they get exactly what they are looking for. It is hard to visualize what someone else is talking about, but when you show them a picture, it makes communicating so much easier! I love sharing a board with a client so that we can both pin ideas that we have!
I have a board that gives tips and ideas for family portraits. It has my clothing guide on it as well as color scheme ideas, posing ideas, and how to collage your prints.
Inspiration boards show my customers different things that I plan on trying out or am interested in. This is like taking a peek into my crazy brain and seeing some of my inspirations! My boards may also give clients inspiration on things they would like to do for their session. I often pin tips and tricks on how to have happy children or family sessions.
So if you don't Pinterest yet, give it a try! It's very addictive and informative. It even helps you get organized (which we all need)!
